The Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell has officially made its mark on history. In total, drivers have accumulated enough emission-free miles to reach the moon's surface and return to Earth. That is over 477,800 miles of nothing but pure water vapor!
Mike O'Brien, Vice President of Corporate and Product Planning for Hyundai Motor America, said, "Surpassing another fundamental stellar threshold gives us a glimpse into the unlimited zero-emissions potential for Hyundai fuel cells."
The drivers reached the impressive feat after only a few short months too. It took the entire group 240 days to officially drive the distance to the moon, and then half of that to finish the return trip. The potential for zero-emissions driving by the Hyundai Tucson has just scratched the surface, and we're excited to see more as the rest of this year unfolds.
The Hyundai Fuel Cell technology has sparked some serious automotive interest. Lexus used the technology to present their new Concept in the recent Tokyo Auto Show, the LF-FC. This would not be coming for quite some time, but is still an exciting future plan amongst both automakers.
